Antonio Martinez spent a lot of time at a traveling circus, shooting dozens of rolls of 35mm black-and-white film. Then he made over 800 modern dryplate tintypes from the negatives, and then scanned them digitally, and then sequenced them artfully to produce this experimental stop-motion video.

The Edifice segment from Saul Bass’s 1968 short film Why Man Creates. It won the Academy Award for documentary short subject.

Made in 1980. Inspired by his years as Joseph Cornell’s assistant, Jordan uses a fluid stop-motion technique with cutouts that evoke Max Ernst and Cornell’s collage work. Filmed with 16mm camera, and optical printer.

This is a really interesting collaborative film initiated by Simon Robson of Knife Party. They have just launched their website with an ongoing release of individual sections that will create the entire film.

Destino is unique in that its production originally began in 1945, 58 years before its eventual completion. The project was a collaboration between American animator Walt Disney and Spanish painter Salvador Dalí, and features music written by Mexican songwriter Armando Dominguez. {wikipedia}
