Near the Egress from antonio martinez on Vimeo.
Antonio Martinez spent a lot of time at a traveling circus, shooting dozens of rolls of 35mm black-and-white film. Then he made over 800 modern dryplate tintypes from the negatives, and then scanned them digitally, and then sequenced them artfully to produce this experimental stop-motion video.

Made in 1980. Inspired by his years as Joseph Cornell’s assistant, Jordan uses a fluid stop-motion technique with cutouts that evoke Max Ernst and Cornell’s collage work. Filmed with 16mm camera, and optical printer.

Motionographer has a nice interview with Tatia Rosenthal about her stop-motion film $9.99. The film looks really wonderful, I hope it receives a wide release around the world after the festival circuit. More info, trailer, and some behind the scenes images can be found at the official site.
